Super Mario World Mini

"A few minor issues."

date: July 23, 2008

A few minor issues, primarily with the hit detection (a few of the enemies can be a fair distance away and still kill Mario, though it seemed random when it happened), and speed (then again, being able to move faster would probably be a bad thing in this screen-by-screen game).

Anyway, nice job.

Totem Destroyer

"Fun"

submission: Totem Destroyer

Very fun and enjoyable. My only complaint: No level editor.

I realize that adding a level editor to a game may be difficult, and it would probably balloon the file size, but this game needs something like that!

Rain Drops : Re-Done

"Too easy."

date: June 26, 2008

You should try to learn a bit more actionscripting, and make the location of the raindrops random.

There are two safe spots, at least (well, one 100% safe spot and one 90% safe spot) that would let a person just walk away and go for as long as they would like.

Also, put in an option to mute the music; it gets old quickly.

==(Repairing a Broken Sky)==

"Sublime."

date: August 8, 2008

Words cannot speak highly enough of this piece. Generally, I avoid songs that are much more than a few minutes, since they tend to get somewhat stale after that point, but this one manages to remain fresh and, more importantly, enjoyable, even up to the last notes.

Wonderful work!

(WF1) House Of Mystics preview

"Very nice"

date: July 5, 2008

I have but one complaint: that the piece either be longer, or the loop had been better looped.

This makes a good track that can be listened to for a length of time, but the empty air in the beginning makes the loop break a bit. It still loops well, but it feels more like it is something that wasn't supposed to loop.

Regardless, it is very nice!

Author's Response:

yeah the empty air in the beginning is actually a fade in lol. The whole song is a preview for something that i plan on being much longer and much better (I hope LOL). Its not supposed to be a loop but in my opinion its way to short to be a song lol. Thanks for the review glad you liked it!

Escape From Time

"Tech"

submission: Escape From Time
date: June 19, 2008

Not quite my cup of tea, so I'll just focus on the technical side of things.

At 0:55, all I can say is, those notes... are painful. If that is how they are supposed to be, well, my apologies, but they do sound wrong.
Throughout the piece, it also sounds a bit like the different layers aren't lined up with each other properly. It has a bit of a drifting feeling. Again though, if that is how it is supposed to be, I offer my apologies at not quite knowing this style of music.

On the purely technical side of it, it sounds good. It seems to have a simple complexity to it. There is plenty to keep one entertained without going over the "too busy" threshold for most people. There will, of course, always be some who complain, but as is said, one cannot please all the people all of the time.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the great review! The notes you are talking about at the beginning...no need to apologize because I know exactly what you're talking about there. They were meant to be that way but at the same time I knew they didn't quite fit overall...I didn't really know how to make them fit so I just left them I guess. Anyway, Thanks again for the critique! I appreciate you taking the time to give me some advice I can use to improve in the future.
